Oklahoma industrial power got more expensive, fast

8.16¢/kWh

Oklahoma’s average industrial electricity price in August 2026, up from 6.64¢ in August 2025 (+23%).
Source: U.S. EIA, Electric Power Monthly, Table 5.6.A. 2026 figures are preliminary.

2 rate cases

OG&E filed a $395M rate review on Sept. 30, 2026 (PUD 2026-000067). PSO’s case is PUD 2025-000075. Both are at the Oklahoma Corporation Commission.

1 peak

On demand-metered schedules, a big share of the bill comes from a single 15-minute peak, the rate schedule you’re on, and power-factor adjustments. Few plant teams have time to audit that.

How it works

STEP 1 · FREE

Bill Teardown

You send: 12 months of electric bills (PDF or photos) for one meter or site. If you can, add a smart-meter interval-data download (15-minute usage).

We check:

  • Demand charges and when your peaks happen
  • Whether your rate schedule still fits your load
  • Power-factor penalties and billed-demand adjustments
  • Ratchets, minimums and billing errors
  • Utility incentive programs you may qualify for

You get back within 5 business days: a one-page summary of what’s driving your bill, each finding tied to the specific line of your utility’s published tariff, and a rough estimate of what’s worth pursuing. If we don’t find anything worth your time, we’ll tell you.

STEP 2 · PAID, ONLY IF WORTH IT

Peak & Rate Review

A full review of your bills and interval data, with a written action plan:

  • Rate-schedule recommendation
  • Peak-shaving plan (which equipment, which hours)
  • Power-factor fix
  • Help with the utility paperwork for any rate change, rebate or demand-response enrollment

You only move to Step 2 if the Teardown shows it’s worth it.

Pricing

Bill Teardown

Free

No cost, no obligation.

Peak & Rate Review: flat fee

$750 per site

Due when we deliver the Peak & Rate Review report.

Peak & Rate Review: savings share

$0 upfront + 30%

30% of first-year verified savings. Available only if the Teardown shows an estimated $5,000/yr or more.

How verified savings is measured: for the 12 months after changes are made, we recalculate each bill under your old rate schedule, billed demand and power factor using your actual usage, and subtract what you actually paid. The math uses the utility’s published tariff, and you see every line. Refunds or credits count when they appear on your bill.

Act this winter for summer money

OG&E: Oklahoma Load Reduction rider

Enrolls only Jan 1 – Mar 31, for plants with 200 kW+ summer on-peak demand and interval metering. For Apr 2026 – Mar 2027 it pays $5.33 per subscribed kW per month as bill credits on June–September bills. The next year’s price is posted before enrollment opens.

PSO: Peak Performers

Pays $32 per average kW saved during summer peak events, once a year, plus 5% if you join every event.

The Teardown tells you whether you qualify.

Estimate · illustrative, not a guarantee

What one peak can be worth

Basis: OG&E Power & Light (PL-1) secondary demand rates of $16.87/kW in summer (June–October, 5 months) and $8.87/kW in winter (7 months), i.e. $146.44 per kW of billed demand per year, applied to a hypothetical 500 kW plant.

  • Lowering the monthly peak by 50 kW ≈ 50 × $146.44 = about $7,322/yr (estimate)
  • Raising power factor from 85% to 90%+ removes about 29.4 kW of billed demand a month (500 × 90/85 − 500) ≈ about $4,307/yr (estimate)

Your results depend on your tariff, load and operations and may be lower, or zero.
